Effects of Fermented Turmeric Milk on Inflammatory Biomarkers in Metabolic Syndrome

Abstract
Background: A food-based fermented intervention could improve adherence compared with capsule supplementation.
Objective: To evaluate fermented low-fat milk containing standardized turmeric and Lactobacillus culture in comparison with matched fermented milk without turmeric using a randomized controlled trial.
Methods: The draft protocol included 84 experimental units or participants involving adults with metabolic syndrome. The intervention was administered or tested for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, with additional assessment of interleukin-6, HOMA-IR, triglycerides, waist circumference. Standardized laboratory, clinical, or food-analysis procedures were applied, and between-condition effects were evaluated with two-sided tests at α=0.05.
Results: Fermented turmeric milk reduced hs-CRP by 35.4% from 4.8 ± 1.2 to 3.1 ± 1.0 mg/L, whereas the control changed by 6.4% (between-group p<0.001). HOMA-IR decreased by 0.8 units and triglycerides by 22 mg/dL in the turmeric group; adherence was 93.2% and no serious adverse events occurred. The direction and magnitude of the dummy findings were internally consistent across primary and secondary endpoints, and tolerability or assay-quality criteria remained acceptable.
Conclusion: The example dataset suggests that fermented low-fat milk containing standardized turmeric and Lactobacillus culture could produce a meaningful improvement in high-sensitivity C-reactive protein through enhanced curcuminoid biotransformation during fermentation and modulation of inflammatory-metabolic signaling. These findings are intended solely as a complete manuscript-development example and require replacement with ethically generated, independently verified observations before scientific submission.
