Business Sustainability and Competitive Advantage: The Role of Innovation, Governance, and Strategic Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
Business sustainability has become a strategic priority for organizations seeking long-term growth in an increasingly competitive and dynamic business environment. Beyond achieving short-term financial success, firms are expected to create economic value while addressing environmental responsibilities and social expectations. As organizations respond to growing economic, environmental, and social challenges, innovation, corporate governance, and strategic management are increasingly recognized as mutually reinforcing capabilities. Individually, these concepts have received considerable scholarly attention; however, limited research has investigated how their integration contributes to sustainable organizational performance and long-term competitive success.
This research proposes an integrated conceptual framework that brings together business sustainability, innovation, corporate governance, and strategic management to explain their collective contribution to long-term organizational success. Drawing on established theories and contemporary research, the paper examines how innovation supports organizational adaptability and value creation, how effective governance enhances transparency, accountability, and stakeholder confidence, and how strategic management aligns organizational resources with long-term sustainability objectives. The study further discusses the interaction among these elements and explains how their integration strengthens organizational resilience, improves operational performance, and supports sustained competitive positioning in rapidly evolving markets.
Organizations are better positioned to sustain competitive success when innovation is reinforced by responsible governance and integrated into a coherent strategic management framework. Rather than viewing these capabilities as independent organizational functions, the study highlights their interconnected role in building sustainable business models capable of responding to technological change, market uncertainty, and evolving stakeholder expectations. The framework developed in this paper provides a practical foundation for managers, policymakers, and scholars to better understand how integrated organizational capabilities can support sustainable growth and strengthen long-term organizational value.
