Extended Vowel Text Encryption Algorithm for Robust Reversible Encryption

Abstract

In an era where data transmission across networks holds increasing significance, data encryption becomes paramount. Two primary techniques employed for data encryption are Substitution and Transposition. Transposition involves altering the arrangement of characters within a given text, while substitution entails the replacement of each character in the plaintext with an alternative character. Here we discuss the existing Playfair algorithm, a substitution algorithm, its extended versions, and their advantages and disadvantages. This paper deals with the modified version of the VTE algorithm [6]. This advancement will increase the strength of the ciphertext, making it better than the existing VTE algorithm against the brute-force attacks present in today’s world.
